Don’t forget ~ when hiring any trade ask to see their public
liability insurance before you let them work in your home!
... many customers don’t and regret it later. Even in the tiling
trade we drill through walls
and floors for fixing cement boards or installing customers kitchen and
bathroom fittings. The cost of one small hole through a central heating system
or electrical mains could be astronomical as well as inconvenient. If your
tradesman is well covered with PLI you can have any issues rectified immediately.
Many tradesmen don’t care about their
reputation or more importantly – you! They work each day in your homes hoping
things don’t go wrong.
All pro-tradesmen will have adequate up to date PLI and don't mind being asked to show it.
Don’t take risks with your most valuable possession – your home!

Ceramastyle customer in Winchester wins back the total cost her her tiling!
Great News! February 2010: our customer, Mrs N from
Winchester won back the cost of her new tiled kitchen floor!
Mrs N called me and
let me know that BAL had been in touch, she also let me know she’d never won
anything before in her life. I don’t know who was happier, her or me. It’s
great to hear these things happening and I’m overjoyed it was one of our customers.
Mrs N had a new ceramic tiled floor laid in January in her kitchen, the original
floor was floorboards that needed ply over-boarding. The primer, rapid setting
flexible adhesives and fully flexible grout were from BAL.
The kitchen is in a
high traffic area between her hallway, diner and conservatory and we’re
confident that this floor will give her many trouble free years of service and
enjoyment. Well done Mrs N and thanks to BAL for generously supporting these

Tanking to be mandatory!
British Standard BS5385 part 4 is being upgraded to make it
mandatory that all wet rooms and shower installations should be fully sealed
prior to tiling. We welcome this much needed change.
Thankfully we’ve seen customers attitude change recently by
happily accepting the fact that tiles and grout cannot be relied upon to
waterproof your substructure. With the increasing trend of wetroom
installations and increasing use of power showers these changes are very
timely. Britain is full of leaky showers and damp walls, perhaps now we can
start to see better standard shower installations.
If your tiler offers to save you a few Pounds by tiling
directly to plasterboard in a shower or he is ignorant of BS5385 then do yourself
a favour and give us a call. We install tanking at a very reasonable cost and
have the experience to do it correctly. Further information can be found in the
FAQ section of this website and you’ll see examples of tanked tiling projects
in the portfolio section. All Ceramastyle Tiling Services tile installations
are carried out in accordance with BS5385.
