Ceramastyle Tiling Services has become an official supporter
of the Get Britain Building Campaign.
Get Britain Building is a coalition of organisations from
within the construction sector who are calling for the creation of a new
business environment to help the UK construction industry thrive and prosper in
these difficult times.
Spearheaded by British Precast, the Builders Merchants Federation, the
Federation of Master Builders and the Modern Masonry Alliance, the campaign
focuses on the need to help all those involved in the UK construction industry
survive in the current economic downturn, with an emphasis on minimising
excessive control, regulation, and taxation.
Tanking to be mandatory!
British Standard BS5385 part 4 is being upgraded to make it
mandatory that all wet rooms and shower installations should be fully sealed
prior to tiling. We welcome this much needed change.
Thankfully we’ve seen customers attitude change recently by
happily accepting the fact that tiles and grout cannot be relied upon to
waterproof your substructure. With the increasing trend of wetroom
installations and increasing use of power showers these changes are very
timely. Britain is full of leaky showers and damp walls, perhaps now we can
start to see better standard shower installations.
If your tiler offers to save you a few Pounds by tiling
directly to plasterboard in a shower or he is ignorant of BS5385 then do yourself
a favour and give us a call. We install tanking at a very reasonable cost and
have the experience to do it correctly. Further information can be found in the
FAQ section of this website and you’ll see examples of tanked tiling projects
in the portfolio section. All Ceramastyle Tiling Services tile installations
are carried out in accordance with BS5385.
