Laundry-Room tiled floor
The customer required a new tiled floor for her laundry room
that was for years covered by linoleum over a concrete screed. The original
floor screed, though established, was not flat enough for tiling (at 20mm
bowing it was over the 3mm limit over a 2m distance as required by British Standards)
so high spots were mechanically removed prior to commencement of work.
330mm x 330mm cream stone effect ceramic tiles with
champaign coloured grout in 3mm grout lines were installed for a fresh,
practical and clean new floor. The grout used contains Microban, this is an
anti-bacteria treatment to help ensure a mould free hygienic floor, important for
the use of this room. The tile pattern layout was not, as per normal, centred
around the centre of the room or a major feature, but around the future (not
yet installed) white goods and worksurfaces features. This information was
supplied by the customer on a technical drawing.
The final floor delivers the appearance of stone with the
practicality of ceramics, an ideal covering for a laundry room.
